Our Privacy Policy

SMMC respects your privacy when you access our web site (the “Site”) and does not collect personally identifying information from you without permission.  We want you to know about the measures we take to keep the Site a safe and secure environment for everyone. Please read our Privacy Policy carefully.

What Information Does SMMC Collect?


When you visit the Site, your computer reaches us via a particular IP, (Internet Protocol), address and SMMC' servers automatically collect this IP address.

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive (when enabled) after a visit to any web site. Cookies that SMMC puts onto your computer are there to make it easier for you to use the Site and Services, and to enable us to follow your navigation through the Site and customize it to your interests.  They allow us to remember your identity and preferences so we can display content appropriate for you and your interests.  The Cookies themselves tell SMMC nothing about your personal information.

SMMC does not employ any technology or means of preventing you from disabling the acceptance of a Cookie. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but your browser may be set to disable this function. Some Web browsers or similar Internet navigating technology may not support (or consistently support) Cookie technology. If Cookies are disabled or you are utilizing technology that does not adequately support Cookie technology, SMMC shall not be able to record your activity on the Site.

Do We Ever Ask for Personally Identifiable Information?

In order to be a SMMC registered subscriber and to have full access to the Site, SMMC collects a limited amount of information about your so that we can provide services (“Services”) that are more interesting and useful to you.

We may ask you to provide personal information such as name, physical address, email address, information about your family, and password for the Site when you become a member of SMMC which will allow you access to certain “Members Only” areas of the Site.

If you decide to register as a user of our Site, you will have access to all features within the Site. If you choose not to register or provide personal information you can still use the Site, but you will limited accesses to SMMC Services offered through the Site, such as playgroup sign-up, calendar viewing, and the ability to contact board members.

How And Why Does SMMC Use Your Information?

SMMC uses the information we collect to better understand our users and improve your overall experience when using our Site and Services. SMMC also conducts research on our user’s demographics and interests based on the information you provide us when you register or from information available from our server access logs.

If you register with us, we will send a confirmation email acknowledging your new account to the email address you supplied to us. We recommend that you keep this confirmation email, as it contains information that will help you use our Service.  We link your email address to personal information you have volunteered to us, but we do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in “Will SMMC Disclose Any of the Information You Have Provided?”  We may also communicate with you regarding your account and the Site and Services.

We may contact you to confirm your registration and account status, and when changes are made to the Site.

SMMC hereby disclaims any and all liability relating to your disclosure of personal information and to your use of the Site.
 
Will SMMC Disclose Any the Information You Have Provided?

SMMC does not sell your personal information.

SMMC does not otherwise disclose personal information to third parties, except as described herein.

SMMC may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Site and Services, provide the Services on our behalf or to perform certain Site-related services (e.g. hosting and maintenance services, database management and improvement of the Site’s features).  We may, from time to time, share your personally identifiable information with such third parties to administer or complete these tasks.  These third parties only have access to your information as necessary to perform their functions and may not use it for any other purpose, and are contractually obligated to maintain your information confidential.

SMMC may disclose or report personal information in limited circumstances to resolve disputes, to perform authentication checks or in special cases, such as to investigate an attempted breach of the security of SMMC, to investigate a threat to you, us or others, or to prevent harm to you, us or others.

Notwithstanding any statements to the contrary elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, SMMC may disclose or report personal information in limited circumstances where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required under law, for example, to cooperate with law enforcement authorities.

From time-to-time we will survey SMMC users.  If you choose to provide personal information in response to a survey, such information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use of and satisfaction with the Site and Services, and improving our customer service and Site and Service offerings. 

Personally identifiable information submitted to us through this Site, and information collected by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy, will be used, collected, processed, stored, transferred, disclosed and disposed of in accordance with California law.

What Kinds Of Security Measures Do We Take To Protect Your Information From Accidental Loss Or Disclosure?

We restrict access to personal information to select SMMC board members and to select third parties as described in “Will SMMC Disclose Any of the Information You Have Provided?” All such SMMC board members and third parties are obligated to keep this information confidential.
The database which stores personal information is on a private network, and is not directly accessible via the Internet. We use passwords to prevent unauthorized access to such information.
We recommend that you do not share your password with anyone or use the automatic login feature on a publicly available computer. SMMC will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. If you are using a computer that others have access to, such as one at a computer lab, school, or public library, do not use the automatic login feature. Always remember to sign out and close your web browser window when leaving our Site.

How Can You Deactivate Your Registration Or Correct Or Revise Information We Have About You?

We recognize that control of your personal information is important to you.

If you are registered and have concerns about the personal information you’ve submitted to SMMC, or if you want to deactivate, correct, update, or confirm your information, please go to http://www.sanmateomotherclub.org/settings , login and check your Personal Profile. When we deactivate your membership, a copy of your personal information may continue to reside on our computers, servers, and backup media, but it will not be used for mass mailings or to contact you.   SMMC may retain any information you provide to us, as necessary, for compliance with the law.

What about Spam?

SMMC does not send unsolicited e-mail messages that could legitimately be construed as Spam.  We may contact you with updates about the Site and Services if requested by you.

How Will You Know SMMC's Privacy Policy Has Changed?

SMMC may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this Site.
