1.  Why should I join SMMC?
We are a community of women who offer friendship, support, and advice. We offer Activities such as Children’s Outings, Adult Socials, General Meetings, In-a-Pinch services, Playgroups, and a lot more.

2.  Do I have to live in San Mateo to be a member of the San Mateo Mother’s Club?
No. The SMMC does not have a residency requirement.

3.  Can I try an event without being a member?
Feel free to join us at one of our monthly general meetings to have a look at what we have to offer. Other events, however, are reserved for members only since there’s a lot of work behind the scenes to make events happen.

4.  Can I join if my baby isn’t born yet?
Yes. You can join if you are pregnant and/or have children under the age of six.

5.  Can I join the club even if I cannot attend the monthly meetings?
Yes absolutely! Monthly meeting attendance is not mandatory.

6.  How do I join the SMMC?
You can sign up online, pay online or mail in your check, or let the Vice President know at a general meeting who will send you an online invitation.

7.  Why am I directed to Big Tent when I request to join SMMC?

Big Tent is our one-stop-shop online resource.  Through Big Tent (www.bigtent.com ), our club is able to process membership renewals and payments, manage email list-serves, have our own buy/sell/trade board, access a live newsletter and calendars, and use lots of other great features to extend our offline activities and relationships online.  

8.  Do I have to be a stay-at-home mom to be a member?
No, our membership is a diverse mix of moms who work inside and outside the home.

9.  Is there a volunteer requirement?
Although it is not required, we encourage members to donate at least 2 hours/year.

10.  Do you send a newsletter?
SMMC sends a monthly newsletter chock full of good information. Once you become a member you will gain access to our archived newsletters

11.  How much does it cost to join?
Our dues are $42 per year. Dues for new members are prorated as follows:
January- June $42, July-October $24, November-December $48 (includes membership for the following year) .

12.  I'm a member, how can I volunteer to help out?
Contact us! We would love to hear from and would love your help even more. the old addage stands - you get back what you put in.

13. How do I find a playgroup?
Start by reading our playgroups web page. If this does not help, please contact our playgroup coordinator.
