Board Members

The San Mateo Mothers Club Board of Directors has an office term of one year, January to December.

The following is a brief summary of duties for each position. If you are interested in a holding a particular position, please contact the sitting member for more information.

President - Jen Wolosin
Responsible for the successful running of the club. Lead all Board Meetings. Manage Executive Board members and assist as needed in the successful execution of the various activities and operations of the Board. Act as ambassador to both the members of the club and members of the community. Responsible for assuring all club activities and actions adhere to the By-Laws of the SMMC.

Vice President - Bridget Bertrand
Check SMMC PO Box weekly and deliver member applications to the Database Coordinator promptly. Check the SMMC voicemail two to three times a week and distribute messages to the necessary Board members. Coordinate sub clubs and member participation on various committees. Call all new members to welcome them and invite them to monthly general meeting. Maintain club forms including application, welcome packet and brochures.

Treasurer - Kristina Surber
Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Club. Process SMMC bills/expense reimbursements and deposit revenue. Produce financials and budget information for monthly Board meeting. Provide a quarterly financial update for the newsletter. Coordinate with an accountant if filing taxes is required in a given year. Maintain contract with the insurance company and keep governmental document filings current. 

Secretary - Amy Silvestrini
Oversee documenting of all activities of the club, including Board meetings. Take notes and attendance at Board meeting. Email minutes to the Board within one week from the date of the meeting. Keeps archived copies of the minutes.

Adult Socials Coordinators - Francine Weiss and Leslie Gillis
Plan adult social events throughout the year including the Mom’s Weekend Away. Advertise events to the membership via email and the newsletter and at the monthly general meetings.

Children’s Outings Coordinators - Alison Baxley and Michelle Ketchum
Plan children’s social and educational outings throughout the year. Advertise events to the membership via email and the newsletter and at the monthly general meetings.

Community Outreach Coordinators - Jen Gurr
Generate ideas for community outreach involving Club members. Act as Club liaison to partner organizations. Provide community service projects facilitating volunteers and delivery of donations. Promote projects to members at the general meetings and through the newsletter and email. 

Fundraising Coordinator - Michelle Danley & Amanda Austin Schrof
Generate ideas for fundraising involving membership. Currently our large fundraising efforts include the Rummage Sale, Entertainment Books, Talbot’s Night, and fund raising dinners. Run all aspects of our primary fundraiser, Escrip, encouraging membership, maintaining accounts and running promotions. Work with the Treasurer to help deposit money received from fundraising events.

General Meetings - Sally Steel-Ginis 
Generate ideas for and book speakers/activities for the monthly general meetings. Write articles for the newsletter and for email to inform members of the meeting topic. Plan annual preschool preview night. 

Historian - Lisa Azar
Maintain SMMC scrapbook. Solicit photos and memorabilia of Club events from members. 

In-A-Pinch Coordinator - Charlene Williams
Coordinate the delivery of dinners to new mothers via Club volunteers who make and deliver meals. Maintain list of short-term loan items available to Club members. Report birth information to the newsletter and to the database coordinator.

Membership Coordinator - Joey Toppenberg
Disperse Club information to prospective members via email, phone calls, and at general meetings. Welcome new members to the club by calling them and sending out the welcome packet. Create new member list for the newsletter. Every other month welcome new members at a social half hour before the monthly general meeting.

Newsletter Editor - Samantha Bronson
Oversee production and distribution of the Mom Matters monthly newsletter. Respond to all newsletter content inquiries following up on special submissions as needed. Provide monthly content report and template to layout; work with newsletter staff on any issues regarding newsletter production. Proofread final draft and communicate with Printer on final publishing of newsletter. Coordinate mailers for distribution; maintain bulk mailing account and supplies related to the mailing. Oversee budget expenditures and forward all invoices to the Treasurer.

Newsletter Advertising - Claire Gantan
Respond to all advertising inquiries providing essential details to advertise in the newsletter. Receive ad copy and fees, track continuing and new ads; maintain a monthly ad report and inventory of available ad space. Import new ads into Microsoft Publisher, email report and Publisher file to Editor, send ad revenue to the Treasurer.

Playgroups Coordinator - Meredith Nassihi
Create and fill playgroups as requests are made. Attend monthly general meeting to assist members in finding a playgroup. Return phone calls and emails regarding members seeking playgroups. Write article for monthly newsletter listing open playgroups. Disseminate Club announcements and information as needed to the Playgroup Coordinator. Assign general meeting refreshment dates to playgroups.

Promotions Coordinator - Julia McCullough
Ensure that the Club’s profile within the community remains prominent via various forms of print and other media. Submit all general meeting and other calendar notices to local newspapers and other publications. Coordinate distribution of Club brochures to various community groups: hospitals, medical offices, preschools, etc.

Special Events Coordinator - Lorena Cordova
Plan the club’s four special events during the year: currently the Eggstravagnza, Summer Picnic, Halloween Party, and the Camping Trip. Manage committees for each event. Advertise events to the membership via email and the newsletter and at the monthly general meetings.

Virtual Community Coordinator & Webmaster- Alison Baxley
Send email announcements including classifieds to the members twice a month.  Be available to send emails from the Board to the Club as needed beyond the bimonthly announcements.  Manage the Big Tent Discussion Forum Group including adding Wisdom and acting as the Moderator.  Manage the Big Tent News and Marketplace areas.

Maintain content of the SMMC website.  Update as needed with current information. Develop/modify pages as requested and agreed to by the SMMC Board, either yourself or with Developer assistance.  Administer Big Tent site including roles and permissions and membership types.  Liaise with Big Tent Support when needed, and with Big Tent administrators from other groups.

Community Liason- Heidi Huntsman
Responsible for opening up the lines of communication between the SMMC and the larger community of San Mateo. This includes keeping abreast of information fro the following sources: San Mateo School Board (kindergarten info.), City of San Mateo, San Mateo Police Department, and other San Mateo agencies/sources.
